The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is the third largest rural municipality in Nova Scotia in terms of total property assessment and encompasses a geographic area representing over 432,000 acres.
The District is home to a growing population of over 26,000 and is considered one of the "hot spots" for development and growth in Nova Scotia.
Rich in charm and history, we offer a safe, rural lifestyle with wonderful seaside communities, sparkling coves and beaches, miles of Atlantic shoreline and numerous recreational lakes. All of this within a short commute to the large metropolitan area of Halifax. |

The Municipality, the LaHave River Salmon Association, Canadian Tire and NS Inland Fisheries work together to create this educational and fun day for families. Children catch fish from our stocked pond. Bring your gear and bait. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No dip nets. Lots of prizes! Free BBQ on site. Three age categories: 6 and under, 7 to 11, 12 - 15. Register on site. It’s FREE! Saturday, May 25, 9:00 a.m. - Noon. MARC, Dayspring. Live music starts at 10 a.m. Use sports equipment availalbe for a donation to PRO Kids. |

The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is now accepting applications for use of the floating dock system at Saw Pit Wharf, Garden Lots. Please complete an application form and submit by May 17, 2013. |

The 2013 Solid Waste Collection Calendar for the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg has been mailed to residents. You may view the calendar electronically. Find your collection day by viewing the waste collection route map. Half of the Municipality's communities are collected during shaded weeks while the other half are collected on non-shaded weeks. For more information call 543-2991. Household wastes including blue bag recyclables, paper, cardboard, organics and garbage are collected on the same day. |

A pilot Illegal Dumpsite Clean Up Program is currently being offered to property owners within the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and Towns of Mahone Bay and Bridgewater to assist property owners in the clean up and disposal of illegally placed waste. Property owners may use the program once until March 31, 2013. Dumpsites 1 cubic metre (1m x 1m x 1m) and larger will be eligible.
A dumpsite survey must be arranged in advance by calling (902) 543-2991 to identify the location and materials dumped. Property identification information will be required. Certain dumpsite wastes are ineligible for clean up.
