The Rum Runners’ Ball
Based on the (almost) true stories of Lunenburg during Prohibition, The Rum Runners’ Ball at Bluenose Lodge is set in 1930, when rum running was an important part of the Nova Scotia South Shore economy.
A quirky set of characters reveal the trials of Prohibition in a small town. The community is divided between
teetotalers, and those who prefer something stronger. You’ll meet Snuffer Pearl, the local rum runner, Betty Hirtle, his bootlegging buddy, Blanche Keddy, head of the local Temerance Union, and Henry Oickle, keyboard player and man-about-town.
Original songs include ‘The Rum Runners’ Ball’, ‘Betty the Hoocher’, ‘Call of the Demon Rum”, and ‘I Hate the Sea’ (dedicated to those who spend the voyage hanging over the lee rail).
Dinner and Show Package includes:
full three course meal
a special Prohibition rum cocktail
gratuities & a donation to Hospice
$100 + HST
