Welcome

The Lunenburg Regional Community Recycling Centre is jointly owned by the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, and the Towns of Mahone Bay and Bridgewater.  We are located on Nova Scotia’s scenic South Shore, at Whynott’s Settlement, near Bridgewater.  We service a population of about 34,000 people, by providing curbside collection of waste, a public drop-off, as well as the processing of recyclables and organics, sale to markets and disposal of garbage.  Recyclables from local Enviro-Depots are also bought here for compaction and trucking to various markets.

Municipal Joint Services Board

To better serve residents of the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Towns of Bridgewater and Mahone Bay, a Municipal Joint Services Board has been created through a cost sharing arrangement.

Each participating municipality has appointed members to sit on the Board of Directors who will report to Councils regularly on their progress and to identify future shared service opportunities.

The first municipal shared service to be administered by the Municipal Joint Services Board is the Lunenburg Regional Community Recycling Centre (LRCRC). In accordance with the Inter-Municipal Waste Disposal Agreement, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg operated and managed the LRCRC. On March 31, 2013, the transfer of operations to the Municipal Joint Services Board occurred with no changes to the operating setup or procedures to the LRCRC.

During this transition period, we will post information as it becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact Jim Annad, Operations Manager at 543-1992 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
