Calling all Dares Lake property owners

Are you a Dares Lake property owner? Join the Source Water Protection Advisory Committee!

The Town of Lunenburg invites property owners in the Dares Lake area to help safeguard our community's water supply by joining the Source Water Protection Advisory Committee (SWPAC).

They Need Your:

  • Engagement: Attend meetings and contribute to watershed management discussions.
  • Insight: Share your experiences and knowledge as a Dares Lake property owner.
  • Collaboration: Work with a diverse group to develop sustainable water protection strategies.
  • Advocacy: Promote responsible land use and water protection in our community.

Your Role:

  • Influence watershed protection policies and practices.
  • Advise on land use and water management to ensure water safety.
  • Help educate the community about protecting our water resources.

Public Meeting Notice - Special Council Meeting - April 9, 2024

A Special Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.

This meeting will be to approve the 2024-2025 municipal budget.

Public Notice - Special Council meeting - April 2, 2024

A Special Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in place of the regularly scheduled Finance Committee meeting.  

This meeting will be to review the proposed 2024-2025 Municipal budget.

Proclamation - Royal Canadian Air Force

April 1, 2024 will mark the 100th year anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).  Mayor Bolivar-Getson recognized the RCAF and honoured those who have served and those who continue to serve, and encouraged residents to join in ceremonies to commemorate the history of the RCAF.

Proclamation - Purple Day - March 26, 2024

March 26, 2024 was proclaimed as Purple Day in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg to increase understanding, reduct stigma, and improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy throughout the country and globally.

Planning Advisory Committee Meeting - February 22

PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Public Meeting Notice: Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

A meeting of the Municipality’s Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) is scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2024, starting at 7:00 p.m. at 10 Allee Champlain Drive, Cookville, Nova Scotia. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the following matters:

(1) Substantial Alteration to a Municipal Heritage Property - New Elm Union Church - to add a wheelchair ramp.
(2) Accessibility Amendments to Policy 027- Heritage Property Policy
(3) Any other planning matters.

Heritage Day Closure: Monday, February 19

Please note: The Municipal Services Building will be closed on Monday, February 19 for Heritage Day.

Pan African Flag Raising

Members of the public are invited to join Council and staff at the raising of the Pan-African flag at our Municipal building on Thursday, February 1 at noon in celebration of African Heritage Month.
