Collection guidelines differ in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Towns of Bridgewater, Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. Below is a brief overview of each. If you have further questions, please check your calendar or give us a call at 543-2991.

Muncipality of the District of Lunenburg

2012 Waste Collection Calendar

Waste collection in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is every two weeks.  To find out which day and week your waste collection takes place, please check the waste collection calendar.

On your collection day, place your recyclables, paper, organics and garbage at the side of the road prior to 7:00 am, ensuring it doesn't interfere with pedestrians, mail delivery, or snow removal. Check out our recycling guide for more detailed information on sorting your waste—if it isn't sorted properly it may be rejected and not collected.

Special and holiday collections are published in the waste collection calendar. Please remember that collection times can change due to staffing, weather, traffic, construction, etc. Cancellations are advertised on the radio on CKBW.

Please note, residents are required to place their waste on one side of the road in accordance with the Waste Collection Bylaw. You can find out which side to place your waste by contacting Public Outreach at the Community Recycling Centre 543-2913 or by asking your next door neighbour. 

Town of Bridgewater

In the Town of Bridgewater, one week is blue week, the next week is green week. To find out which day and week your collection takes place, ask your neighbour, call your Town Office at 541-4370 or visit the Town of Bridgewater website.

On your collection day during blue week, place your blue bag recyclables, paper & clean boxboard, and flattened and tied corrugated cardboard at the curb. During green week, place your green cart and garbage (in green or black bags) by the curb. All waste must be curbside by 8:00 am at the latest; please ensure that it doesn’t interfere with pedestrians or snow removal and that waste is separated properly.
