The successful candidate will also assist the team by providing recommendations on locations for alternative building types such as secondary suites and multi-unit housing that will help to provide appropriate housing for populations such as seniors and youth. In addition, the position will provide input and advice on appropriate areas to focus growth and services to encourage and enable better accessibility for all ages and abilities through public transportation and active transportation. The individual’s work will involve a mix of hand-drawn mapping and digital tools such as ArcGIS and Adobe software to apply land uses, as well as a significant field work component to verify the appropriateness of those designations/zones and to check existing uses on properties.

Communication skills will be needed and enhanced, as the project will require reporting in the form of formal written reports, verbal reports and other methods amongst the MODL 2040 team, as well as presentations to Council and the Planning Advisory Committee. Client service will be a key skill to be developed and used, as the individual will be visiting properties throughout the municipality and interacting with members of the public while on site and in an office environment.
