The Planning & Development Services Department invites applications for the position of an Administrative and Customer Services Assistant. This is a 1-year term position, based on 35 hours per week.

The Administrative and Customer Services Assistant provides customer service in a professional and courteous manner and administrative support to the Planning & Development Services Department to meet municipal service standards.

The successful applicant shall have a minimum of a diploma in business administration and 1 – 2 years of customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires an individual with strong communication skills, both written and oral; strong organization skills; the ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines; attention to detail; experience with Microsoft Office Software; experience working with Adobe Acrobat, Laserfiche, Arc Reader, and TownSuite. Experience in recording meeting minutes is considered an asset.

The Engineering & Public Works Department invites applications for the full-time position of Municipal Engineer.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Public Works, the Municipal Engineer provides professional and technical engineering support for municipally owned infrastructure and projects and performs supervisory and administrative duties in planning and coordinating engineering services.

As the ideal candidate you hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience. As a strong team player, you possess pervious project management experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in preparing RFPs, RFQs and tenders, you also have a strong background in transportation, subdivision design and construction projects. Experience with waste water systems, buildings and facility maintenance is an asset. You are competent in preparing reports, amending policies and bylaws and making presentation to Municipal Council.

•Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering specializing in Civil Engineering or equivalent and registration withEngineers Nova Scotia (or the ability to obtain designation).
•Adept at using Microsoft Office software and others.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
•Previous experience with road and subdivision design and construction.
•Knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset.

•Must posses a valid driver’s license for the Province of Nova Scotia.
•Ability to work some overtime and answer after hours emergencies may be required.
