About the role….

This senior leadership role is responsible for providing both strategic and operational management of the municipality’s recreation service. Managing a full department staff and with annual budget of over $1.4 Million, the Director provides sound strategic leadership in all aspects of the provision of recreation services in the municipality.

Passionate about the positive impact that recreation services can have on a community, your skill set includes a seasoned and strategic approach to the management of a recreation department including its human and financial resources. You possess the capacity to manage competing priorities with an emphasis on getting the job done and done well.

Your post-secondary education in Recreation Management or similar field, coupled with your past experience in a municipal recreation environment (7-10 years) has given you the skills and experience to be successful this challenging role.

Asset Mapping Assistant

(Temporary position)

About the role….

Working under the Director of Business Development, Tourism and Infrastructure, the Asset Mapping Assistant supports the implementation of the Economic & Business Development commercial asset mapping project through research and data collection on commercial businesses and land available for sale or lease in various areas of the District.  Position may also undertake data collection in Town of Bridgewater and Town of Mahone Bay.

Is this you?

 As the ideal candidate you have:

  • • A business diploma or related experience in data collection, and
  • • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field;
  • • High degree of accuracy to ensure the integrity of data;
  • • Strong research skills and the ability to think critically to find solutions;
  • • Economic Development experience in the public sector would be considered an asset;
  • • Program delivery and project management experience would be an asset;
  • • Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
  • • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment;
  • • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • • Basic understanding of mapping and GIS systems would be considered an asset.
  • • Knowledge of and experience using digital communication tools would be an asset.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

IT Technician

(Permanent, Full-time)

About the role….

The IT Technician’s role is to ensure proper operation of the Municipal Joint Services Board (MJSB) partners’ technology environment, enabling end users to provide municipal services to their citizens, businesses and visitors. This includes actively resolving end user help requests within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Problem resolution may involve the use of network diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

Is this you?

 As the ideal candidate you have:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and
  • ITIL Foundations certification or completion of certification within the six-month probationary period;
  • Knowledge of advanced computer hardware, including servers, storage and backup systems, laptops, desktops, printing and imaging devices, and wireless / cellular;
  • Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Microsoft Windows 10, Server 2016;
  • Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office products, including Office 365;
  • Working knowledge of networking equipment including routers, switches, and wireless access points;
  • Experience working in an ITIL-driven environment and working knowledge of ITIL principles and processes.
