As part of the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg's Administration Building is closed. Our current plan is to re-open May 1; however, we will be reassessing as necessary.

Recreation, Parks and Trails

All recreational programming, and programming at the MARC building has been cancelled, and all parks are closed.

All municipal parks and municipal trails within our parks are closed. This includes River Ridge Common, The MARC, and Miller Point Park, amongst others. Please do not visit these parks.

As per the province, provincial Rail Trails are open. The Arthur Young Trail is a municipal trail, but remains open as it is not within a park.

Taxes

In order to offset the financial impact on residents and businesses during the COVID-19 situation, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg will delay the interim tax deadline by 90 days.

The interim tax deadline will move from May 31, 2020 to August 31, 2020. The interim tax bills will be mailed at the end of April; however, no interest will be applied until September 1, 2020.

Additionally, the Municipality will offer a deferral of PACE and Straight Pipe Loan payments of up to 90 days upon request. Please email Christine Corkum at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Taxes can be paid through online or telephone banking, mailed or dropped in the outside drop box in the office. Payments can be made at the office when it reopens.

Criminal Record Checks

If you require a criminal record check, we have waived the fee, and the RCMP have been advised that no payment is required.

Fire Departments

In response to the COVID-19 situation, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg will extend the deadline for the submission of the 2020/21 registration packages for the fire and emergency services providers and the date for ratepayer meetings until August 15, 2020 for the 2020/21 fiscal year. Fire departments are discouraged from holding their ratepayer meetings until the province lifts the State of Emergency, and/or permits large gatherings of people.

The 2019/20 registration status of current fire and emergency services providers will also be extended until the 2020/21 registration packages have been processed.
