A Staff Report regarding the results of the Hemford Forest Planning Plebiscite, and possible next steps for Council's consideration, will be presented to Council at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday October 9th, 2018. Please note where the Plebiscite's official results will be identified in staff's subsequent report to Council.

 

Eligible voters in the Hemford Firest subdivision have provided their input on whether Council should consider the adoption of land use planning regulations ("Zoning") in their community.

 

UNOFFICIAL results from the Plebiscite were tallied, following the close of the poll on September 22. 67.6% voted in favour ("YES") of adopting land use controls. OFFICIAL results will be released with the Staff Report.

Yes - 23.

No - 11.

Total votes: 34.

Council's policy identifies that a two-thirds majority (66.6%) is required in favour of land use planning, in having the Municipality proceed to the next step in forming a new Plan Area. Staff will provide a report to Council on the Plebiscite's results, and on the process leading to it, at a later date.

An information notice will be sent out via the Hemford Forest -list serve prior to the date of staff's presentation to Council.

Registered voters in the Hemford Forest subdivision will vote on whether land use planning regulations should be established for their identified community. Those identified on the List of Electors can vote on:

POLL DATE: Saturday September 22nd, 2018, 8.00AM to 7.00PM

Advance Poll dates: Thursday September 13th & Tuesday September 18, 2018, (Noon - 8.00pm)

Poll Location: Hemford Fire Hall (2121 Highway #208)

Staff hosted two information meetings on June 13th and September 5th for residents and property owners in the Hemford Forest subdivision. For those who were not in attendance, a handout provides a brief overview on the subject of land use planning / zoning.
