Non-potable water is water that is not safe or suitable for human consumption, as it has not been treated to meet drinking water standards and may contain contaminants, pathogens, or minerals. While unsafe to drink, non-potable water can be used for many other purposes, such as irrigation, industrial processes, and flushing toilets, helping to conserve treated drinking water resources.
