Wear Red Day emphasizes the importance of awareness and proactive management of heart health and supports the efforts of the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance to improve prevention, diagnosis, and care for women, aiming to reduce premature deaths from heart disease.

Waste was not collected Monday, January 19 due to road conditions.  Waste will be collected on Saturday, January 24 instead.

Notice of Adoption Bylaw 017A Repeal of

Municpal Council conducted Second Reading on January 13, 2026 of By-law 017A Repeal of By-law 017 Police Clearance Certificate Application.  This By-law will remove the requirement for the Municipality to collect application fees for police clearance certificates.

The MGA requires that a Notice of Adoption be published in a local newspaper before it can be adopted.  The Notice of Adoption will appear in the January 21, 2026 edition of the South Shore Bulletin, at which time it will be considered "adopted" and a copy of the by-law will be availabe on the Municipal website.

On December 9, 2025, Council reviewed By-law 017A - A By-law to Repeal By-law 017 – Police Clearance Certificate Application Fees, which proposes eliminating the $25.00 application fee for residents applying for Clearance Certificates for work-related purposes.

Notice is hereby given that Second Reading of the proposed By-law will take place at the January 13, 2026 Council meeting.

Notice of Adoption By-law 047A Amendments to Potable Water

On December 9, 2025, Municipal Council conducted Second Reading of By-law 047A Amendments to By-law 047 Potable Water Supply Upgrade Lending Program and approved the following amendments to the By-law:

  • establish a five-year repayment term for new agreements, including a hardship clause
    that allows approved applicants to receive a repayment term extension, effective
    December 9, 2025;
  • remove the stacking provision with Clean Energy Financing and align with By-law 031
    Clean Energy Financing so that only one municipal financing may be active on a property
    at any given time; and
  • make housekeeping amendments, including accessibility updates and formatting.

Planning Advisory Committee Seeks New Member

The Municipality is accepting expressions of interest from individuals to serve as a member of the Planning Advisory Committee. The Planning Advisory Committee advises Municipal Council on land use planning issues. This includes zoning, complex development applications, and municipal heritage properties. Meetings are normally conducted on the fourth Thursday of every month, starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Municipality is seeking one member-at-large appointment for a two-year term.
